Cell and tissue biology
Cell and tissue biology is currently in an exciting era. Techniques for analyzing cells, such as spatial biology, live-cell imaging and single-cell sequencing are advancing at a dramatic pace, alongside improved cell cultures, including organoid and organ-on-a-chip models…
These developments provide a greater understanding of cells; both at a molecular, morphological and genetic level; but also on a spatial, contextual level within tissues.
By improving our knowledge of different cell types’ structures and functions, researchers can develop more complex interpretations of the relationships between cells and the roles that they play in tissue function. By improving our understanding of these cells and structures, from nervous tissue to epithelial tissue, fields such as immunology, regenerative medicine, drug discovery and drug development can all take huge strides forward.
