Cell-line development
Cell-line development (CLD) is an important step in the production of biopharmaceuticals for the treatment of different diseases. At this stage in the process, the cell line and clone best suited to producing the biologic must be identified based on its ability to produce a high yield of the biologic and its suitability for scaling. Only once the cell line and selected clone have been confirmed to produce the desired biologic at high quality can the process be scaled up for manufacturing.
In this In Focus, we will review the five key steps of CLD, introducing some commonly associated challenges and providing solutions that are available to resolve them.
