Gene expression analysis
Gene expression analysis is used to measure mRNA expression for particular genes of interest either within the same sample or between samples. It provides an insight into how different genes influence normal biological processes as well as which genes are involved in pathogenesis and disease pathways. It can also be useful in biomarker discovery, providing a basis upon which further validation studies can be conducted.
In this In Focus in partnership with Thermo Fisher, we explore how gene expression analyses can be conducted using quantitative PCR, what to consider when choosing the appropriate endogenous control for your gene expression studies and how tools like Thermo’s TaqMan Gene Expression Assays can help.
