Artificial virus-like capsid poking nanoholes in antimicrobial resistance
A team of scientists at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL; London, UK) have partnered with top UK universities to develop a mechanism based on a virus-like capsid to combat persistent antimicrobial-resistant bacterial infections. As antimicrobial resistance increases a generation of ‘superbugs’ is developing, causing much concern about the viability of developing new antibiotics fast enough to tackle them.
