Obesity targeted by novel nanoparticle-based food supplement

Researchers from Stockholm University (Sweden) have engineered mesoporous silica particles (MSPs) to be supplemented in food that could lead to new treatments being developed for diseases such as obesity and diabetes. Currently, there is a serious lack of effective treatments for obesity, such as, use of pharmacological agents for hindering weight gain or promoting weight loss, which do not incur harmful side effects.
