Simultaneous gene and protein expression profiling from 10x Genomics
10x Genomics has announced the new Visium Spatial Solutions for simultaneous gene and protein expression profiling.
The system uses Visium Spatial Gene Expression with Immunofluorescence to combine whole transcriptome spatial gene expression profiling with immunofluorescence protein detection in one simple workflow. This allows researchers to obtain a more complete picture of the biology captured on a tissue slide, providing a more in-depth insight into human health and disease.
The Visium Spatial Gene Expression with Immunofluorescence solution boasts a range of capabilities. Firstly, the ability to visualize protein and whole transcriptome spatial gene expression simultaneously, while localizing rare cell subtypes, identifying post-translational modifications, and resolving cell signaling in the tissue context, without sacrificing discovery power, ultimately resolving tissue complexity.
Secondly, the solution also allows you to make the most of your tissue samples by accessing more analytes in the same tissue sample and by combining whole transcriptome analysis with detection of 2–3 proteins in cell types of interest to achieve multianalyte tissue phenotyping.
Finally, the Visium Spatial Gene Expression with Immunofluorescence is also simple to integrate into existing lab methods and tools for histology and tissue analysis, including your own validated fluorophore-conjugated antibodies.
